How women's strawweight is fought

Strawweight was the first women's division the UFC built from scratch, through a full season of The Ultimate Fighter, and that deliberate foundation explains why it reached competitive depth faster than other women's divisions.

Today it is the women's division with the most fighters on the roster and one of the most technical in the sport. With power capped by the weight limit itself, fights are decided by volume, control and grappling, and finishes come more often by submission than by strikes.

That trait means strawweight Elo is built on accumulation. Climbing here requires stringing together wins over tough opposition, because almost no fight ends decisively enough to produce an isolated jump.
