About Puja Tomar
The first Indian woman to win in the UFC
Puja Tomar made history by becoming the first Indian woman to compete and win in the UFC. Before MMA she had built a strong wushu base, and she later developed her professional career mainly in Asia.
Fighting style
'Cyclone' is an aggressive striker. Six of her wins have come by knockout and several ended within seconds, reflecting considerable power for the smaller divisions.
The historic win
In June 2024 she beat Rayanne dos Santos by split decision, earning the first UFC win by an Indian woman. Her second appearance ended in a submission loss to Shauna Bannon, exposing the grappling areas she still needs to develop.
