About Stephanie Luciano
From Brazil's favelas to the Octagon
Stephanie Luciano found in combat sports a way out of an especially difficult environment during her childhood in Brazil. After building experience in Muay Thai and jiu-jitsu, she began her professional career and eventually reached the UFC.
Fighting style
Luciano is a fairly complete fighter, although her Muay Thai striking is the foundation of her game. She uses kicks, elbows and pressure, but she has also shown a growing ability to find submissions when fights reach the ground.
Recent form
Her first fight against Talita Alencar on Dana White's Contender Series ended in a draw, but she later beat her in the UFC. After a close loss to Sam Hughes, Luciano strung together two wins by rear-naked choke, showing an increasingly important grappling dimension in her development.
