About Virna Jandiroba
Jiu-jitsu, pressure and a career built from the ground up
Virna Jandiroba reached the UFC with an established reputation as a grappling specialist and former Invicta FC strawweight champion. Her debut came against Carla Esparza, an especially demanding introduction, but over the years the Brazilian established herself as one of the top contenders in the division.
Fighting style
Her jiu-jitsu is at the center of practically her entire game. Jandiroba chains takedowns, looks to control the hips and constantly threatens to improve position or attack a submission. Her physical pressure and ability to keep opponents working from uncomfortable positions make up for striking that is less sophisticated than that of some of her main rivals.
Title shot and after
A long winning streak eventually earned her a shot at the championship, although Mackenzie Dern halted her rise. Jandiroba responded in April 2026 by beating Tabatha Ricci by unanimous decision.
