About Gillian Robertson
A submission specialist who never stopped evolving
Gillian Robertson has built one of the most distinctive careers in modern women's MMA. For years she traded wins and losses at flyweight without breaking into the elite for good, but when she dropped to strawweight she found a division far better suited to her best tools.
Fighting style
Robertson is a grappling specialist above all. She constantly looks to close distance, force scrambles and find the back, from where her chokes are especially dangerous. That aggression has made her one of the greatest finishers in the history of the UFC's women's divisions, with an exceptional number of submissions.
The title shot
Her move to 115 pounds produced the best stretch of her career and eventually took her to a shot at the championship. She faced Mackenzie Dern at UFC 330 after building a 6-1 record in the division, but the champion won by unanimous decision after five rounds. The loss halted her rise, although her style makes her one of the most awkward matchups in the division.
