Brazilian power breaking into strawweight's elite
Denise Gomes has become one of the biggest recent breakthroughs in women's strawweight. After an uneven start in the UFC, the Brazilian found consistency and began stringing together increasingly convincing performances until she broke straight into the upper reaches of the rankings.
Fighting style
Her main characteristic is aggression. Gomes has power that is unusual at 115 pounds and constantly looks to force opponents to react under pressure. The biggest win of her career
In August 2026 she earned the biggest win of her career by stopping Yan Xiaonan in the first round in Shanghai, extending her winning streak to five. Her room to grow is one of the most interesting storylines in the division.
