About Valentina Shevchenko
An era of dominance at 125 pounds
Valentina Shevchenko is one of the most complete and successful fighters in UFC history. After first competing at bantamweight and losing two very close fights to Amanda Nunes, she found her natural home at flyweight. There she began a long reign with seven consecutive defenses before losing the title to Alexa Grasso.
Winning the belt back and defending it
After a draw in their first rematch, Shevchenko regained the belt by beating Grasso and re-established herself at the top of the division. In November 2025 she made another major defense against Zhang Weili, beating her by unanimous decision when the then strawweight champion moved up in search of a second belt.
Fighting style
'Bullet' stands out for exceptionally technical striking, built on her background in Muay Thai, kickboxing and taekwondo. She manages distance, counters and kicks superbly, but her game is far from limited to striking: she also has an excellent clinch, good takedowns and a dangerous submission arsenal. Her longevity at the elite level and her ability to keep beating new generations make her one of the absolute benchmarks of women's MMA.
