About Katlyn Cerminara

Flyweight's perennial gatekeeper to the elite

Katlyn Cerminara was for years one of the most consistent contenders in women's flyweight. Formerly known competitively as Katlyn Chookagian, the American established herself near the top of the division very early and went on to fight Valentina Shevchenko for the championship in 2020.

Fighting style

Her game is built fundamentally on distance. Cerminara uses her height, footwork and striking volume to make opponents chase her, piling up attacks while avoiding staying too long in short exchanges. That style produced many decisions and made her a kind of competitive filter for any fighter hoping to reach the elite at 125 pounds.

Recent results

After losses to Manon Fiorot and Maycee Barber, Cerminara went more than two years without competing. Her longevity near the top of a very competitive division remains the trait that best defines her career.
