Amanda Nunes built the most important résumé in the history of women's MMA. The Brazilian won the UFC bantamweight and featherweight titles and held both at the same time. During her era of dominance she beat practically every great champion of her generation, including Ronda Rousey, Cris Cyborg, Valentina Shevchenko, Holly Holm and Miesha Tate.
Nunes combined punching power rarely seen in the women's divisions with a very complete jiu-jitsu and wrestling base. Her aggression initially made her an especially dangerous finisher in the early rounds, but over the years she improved her pace management and became just as capable of dominating long fights against the elite.
After winning back from Julianna Peña the belt she had lost in 2021, Nunes defended the title again and announced her retirement in 2023. That retirement did not prove final: in 2026 she confirmed her return at bantamweight.
