About Kanako Murata
Japanese wrestling held back by injuries
Kanako Murata came to MMA after an important career in freestyle wrestling. That base became the center of a style built on takedowns, control and pressure from top positions.
Fighting style
Before reaching the UFC she became a Rizin champion and built an important winning streak. Her grappling also included several submissions, especially shoulder chokes.
Her UFC run
An injury suffered against Virna Jandiroba and later periods of inactivity significantly slowed her career. Her UFC appearances were few, which made it impossible to see how far she could really carry her wrestling in the strawweight division.
