About Michael Bisping
A decade chasing the belt
Michael Bisping built his career on consistency, volume and an extraordinary ability to stay among the best middleweights in the world for years. The winner of The Ultimate Fighter 3, the Briton spent more than a decade competing in the UFC before finally getting a shot at the championship.
Fighting style
Bisping never stood out for devastating power, but he made up for it with pace, cardio and striking built on constantly piling up shots. His footwork and his ability to reset quickly after every exchange let him sustain high volume in long fights, while solid takedown defense made it hard for opponents to change where the fight took place.
UFC 199 and the Hall of Fame
His defining moment came at UFC 199. Bisping accepted a short-notice title rematch with Luke Rockhold and knocked him out in the first round, becoming the first British champion in UFC history. He defended the belt against Dan Henderson before losing it to Georges St-Pierre. He retired soon after and was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2019, capping one of the most persistent careers in the promotion's history.
