About Rashad Evans
From Ultimate Fighter winner to UFC champion
Rashad Evans came onto the UFC's radar by winning the second season of The Ultimate Fighter, where he competed as a heavyweight despite being clearly undersized for the division. He then dropped to light heavyweight and began a long unbeaten run that eventually took him to the championship.
Fighting style
Evans had an excellent wrestling base, but he progressively developed explosive striking built on speed, feints and sudden attacks from outside range. His knockout of Chuck Liddell in 2008, with a huge right hand, remains one of the defining moments of his career.
The championship and the Hall of Fame
Months later he beat Forrest Griffin to win the light heavyweight championship. He lost the belt to Lyoto Machida, but stayed among the main contenders for years and had important rivalries with Quinton Jackson and Jon Jones. Injuries shaped his final stretch. Evans was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2019 and briefly returned to MMA in 2022 for one last win outside the UFC.
