About Erin Blanchfield
Elite grappling in pursuit of the belt
Erin Blanchfield arrived in the UFC as one of the youngest and most promising flyweight prospects and quickly lived up to those expectations. Her progress was marked by dominant performances against Miranda Maverick, Molly McCann and Jéssica Andrade, results that took her from the lower reaches of the rankings to direct contention for the championship.
Fighting style
'Cold Blooded' builds her game around very complete grappling. She does not depend on a single takedown but chains attempts against the cage, scrambles and transitions until she finds a dominant position. On the ground she is especially strong at taking the back and attacking chokes. Her striking has steadily improved and increasingly lets her compete without needing to shoot for a takedown right away.
Back on track
The loss to Manon Fiorot in 2024 temporarily halted her path to the title, but Blanchfield responded by beating Rose Namajunas and Tracy Cortez. Women's flyweight is one of the most competitive divisions in the UFC, and her grappling makes her an awkward matchup for any opponent.
