About Aleksandra Albu
A brief but unusual stint at strawweight
Aleksandra Albu reached the UFC with minimal professional experience and a sporting background that was surrounded by some mystery for years. The Russian had experience in various disciplines and an especially powerful build for strawweight.
Fighting style
Her style was aggressive and exchange-oriented, although she also had enough grappling to attack submissions. In her UFC debut she submitted Izabela Badurek, and she later beat Kailin Curran by decision.
Her UFC run
Losses to Emily Whitmire and Loma Lookboonmee quickly halted her progress. Albu stopped competing after an extremely short professional career, becoming one of the most unusual profiles of the early generations of women's strawweight.
