About this quiz
This quiz walks through UFC history from its earliest years, when it was little more than a televised curiosity with no weight classes and barely any rules, to its consolidation as the largest mixed martial arts promotion in the world. The ten questions span three eras: the founding tournaments, the period of regulation and growth that brought the sport under athletic commissions, and the international expansion that turned it into a global product.
Knowing that arc changes how you watch a fight today. Unified rules, weight divisions, timed rounds, divisional titles and numbered cards were not there from the start: they were built over decades, often through crises, bans and fights that forced the format to be rethought. When someone argues about whether a champion is dominant or a streak is historic, they are measuring against that timeline, whether or not they realise it.
The quiz takes a couple of minutes and is written so you learn something even when you get a question wrong. Each answer is explained the moment you pick it, with the context for why that detail matters, so you do not need the history memorised to get value from it: it works as a check for people who have followed the sport for years and as an entry point for anyone who just started.
If you want more context afterwards, the rest of the site connects directly to what the quiz asks about. The Elo rankings measure each fighter's real level from their results and the quality of their opposition, the individual profiles carry every fighter's full bout history, and the events section follows the cards being written right now that will be part of this same history a few years from now.
